Big list of http static server one-liners

Each of these commands will run an ad hoc http static server in your current (or specified) directory, available at http://localhost:8000. Use this power wisely.

Discussion on reddit.

Python 2.x

$ python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000

Minimum IAM policy required by AWS for Packer to do its thing. https://github.com/mitchellh/packer Permissions are broken out by API functionality and a resource array has been defined with a wild card for each group. For tighter security resource level permissions can be applied per this documentation: http://aws.typepad.com/aws/2013/07/resourc…

Mocking S3 in Node.js using Sinon
var Aws = require('aws-sdk');
var sinon = require('sinon');
// Only works for 'createBucket', 'update' and a few others since most API methods are generated dynamically
// upon instantiation. Very counterintuitive, thanks Amazon!
var createBucket = sinon.stub(Aws.S3.prototype, 'createBucket');
createBucket.yields(null, 'Me create bucket');
// For other methods, we can 'assign' the stubs to the proto, already defined function won't be overridden
var listBuckets = Aws.S3.prototype.listBuckets = sinon.stub();

JSX, a year in

Hi Nicholas,

I saw you tweet about JSX yesterday. It seemed like the discussion devolved pretty quickly but I wanted to share our experience over the last year. I understand your concerns. I've made similar remarks about JSX. When we started using it Planning Center, I led the charge to write React without it. I don't imagine I'd have much to say that you haven't considered but, if it's helpful, here's a pattern that changed my opinion:

The idea that "React is the V in MVC" is disingenuous. It's a good pitch but, for many of us, it feels like in invitation to repeat our history of coupled views. In practice, React is the V and the C. Dan Abramov describes the division as Smart and Dumb Components. At our office, we call them stateless and container components (view-controllers if we're Flux). The idea is pretty simple: components can't
