Open Letter to #FreeLukeJr

Luke Dashjr, a prolific Bitcoin Core developer, has been sent to Twitter jail: he received a permanent suspension for proclaiming he'll respond with appropriate force if anyone tries to force vaccination on him or his family. To avoid confusion it's important to clarify he does not have an anti-vaccine stance, rather he took a wait for more data approach instead.
Bitcoin is the future of money, a technology that is as fundamental to humanity as speech itself. It is paramount for mankind to thrive. Luke spent over a decade working on this technology, therefore taking away his access to public communication channels is great disservice to society itself.
Flexes:
- Core dev
- BIP maintainer
- Knots dev (which powers Wasabi Wallet)
- Runs one of Bitcoin's default DNS seed
- 2013 HF save
- Node statistics
- Bitcoin Wiki
- Hardfork/softfork research
- Segwit design
- BFGMiner/cgminer, Eloipool, Eligius
- GBT (StratumV2/BetterHash before it was cool), libblkmaker, libbase58
- Blockstream cofounder, sidechains whitepaper, Elements/Liquid
- Free software GPU mining & Free firmware FPGA mining
- Bitcoin Magazine (reviewer/editor on technical articles)
We do believe in freedom of association, that private companies have the freedom to refuse doing business with anyone for any ridiculous reasons, be it vaccination, or even just a whim. Therefore, our only tool is persuasion, this open letter that is supported by a number of respected Bitcoin personalities, educators, developers and other builders. We hope this letter finds the relevant Twitter employees well #FreeLukeJr

Do we need a separate gist to appeal to get Bitcoin Knots out of Twitter suspension or does my ACK on this gist also apply to Bitcoin Knots? :)

Suspension of Bitcoin Knots account is really disappointing.

I think Luke Dashjr said nothing wrong initially. Twitter should fix their algos, employees and policies.

If someone will try to inject something in my body without CONSENT I will ask them not to do it. If they don't listen, I can use my gun.

I am not anti vax however I am anti censorship and anti BS. This is not the culture I had expected in a platform that has CEO supporting Bitcoin. I took one covid vaccine because I had to travel, it was with my CONSENT. Nobody has been forced here in India to do it (at least none of my friends and relatives). Even a country like India is better than people virtue signalling about freedom on social media.

The forums I have been part of initially followed:

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Long term we should either stop using Twitter or don't give up and ask them to fix their issues.

Problem with leaving Twitter is others will continue to use it and there will be no people talking about Bitcoin. Twitter is a shitshow but it is used by lot of people. With so much misinformation out there we need some people on such platforms to talk about Bitcoin IMO.
