Node.js get client IP address
// snippet taken from http://catapulty.tumblr.com/post/8303749793/heroku-and-node-js-how-to-get-the-client-ip-address
function getClientIp(req) {
var ipAddress;
// The request may be forwarded from local web server.
var forwardedIpsStr = req.header('x-forwarded-for');
if (forwardedIpsStr) {
// 'x-forwarded-for' header may return multiple IP addresses in
// the format: "client IP, proxy 1 IP, proxy 2 IP" so take the
// the first one
var forwardedIps = forwardedIpsStr.split(',');

GIT Commit to an existing Tag
1) Create a branch with the tag
git branch {tagname}-branch {tagname}
git checkout {tagname}-branch
2) Include the fix manually if it's just a change ....
git add .
git ci -m "Fix included"
or cherry-pick the commit, whatever is easier
git cherry-pick {num_commit}

playing around with an `Object.make()` helper
// `Object.make(..)` is a helper/wrapper for `Object.create(..)`. Both create a new
// object, and optionally link that new object's `[[Prototype]]` chain to another object.
//
// But `Object.make(..)` makes sure the new object always has a `__proto__` property
// (even a null one) and delegation to a `isPrototypeOf(..)` method, both of which are
// missing from the bare object (aka "Dictionary") created by `Object.create(null)`.
//
// `isPrototypeOf()` is put on a extra object that your created object can delegate to,
// if any only if you create an empty object (by not passing a `linkTo`) that otherwise
// wouldn't have access to `isPrototypeOf()`.

OLOO (objects linked to other objects) pattern explored (with comparison to the prototype style of the same code)
function Foo(who) {
this.me = who;
}
Foo.prototype.identify = function() {
return "I am " + this.me;
};
function Bar(who) {
Foo.call(this,"Bar:" + who);

Some useful Git aliases that I use every day
#
# Working with branches
#
# Get the current branch name (not so useful in itself, but used in
# other aliases)
branch-name = "!git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD"
# Push the current branch to the remote "origin", and set it to track
# the upstream branch
publish = "!git push -u origin $(git branch-name)"
