Goals and Expectations for the Project (What does each group member hope to get out of this project? What do we want to achieve as a team? How will we know that we're successful?):

  • Ryan - hopes to learn the front end and be a productive memeber of the front end team.
  • Maddie - Feel confident making another project in React Native after this one, wants us all to be proud and excited to show the results. This will look like us reaching our MVP.
  • Kelsha - Learning Python and being able to talk to it in an interview. As a team we get our MVP completed and that we get along.
  • Mike - Learn Python for resume. Love for the project to be the flagship to show off and be proud about as a talking point. We will be sucessful if the project is sweet and we are better friends with the people in our group at the end of the project.
  • Kimala - Learn React Native and have a flagship project to show

I am a passionate learner who likes to make a difference, solve a problem and get involved. I have grown both in my coding skills as well as some networking and inter-personal skills. One of my biggest hurdles has been my own grit in the face of failure and struggling until I was able to concur and achieve again. I had been under-employed and stuck in some jobs without any opportunities for growth or career advancement. I felt totally stuck. I have always been curious about coding and being the tech industry so, I decided to take the leap and attend Turing. I figured that you're going to be a year older no matter what you do, so you might as well do what you need to do to make your life better. This career transition means that I will be able to make a difference and find a career with opportunities for growth and advancement. I will be able to keep growing and learning in a field that I like and am forever curious to learn more about. I will be able to carry both the coding skills as well as what I have le

What role does empathy play in your life and how has it helped you?

Empathy plays a central role in my life, and always making an attempt at empathy and seeing where someone else is coming from is something I pride myself on. Sometimes it seems like extending a little understanding is the least you can do for someone else. It’s easy to disregard someone’s bad attitude or reluctance to cooperate in a group as just that, a bad attitude. But if you take the time to show empathy and give the other person a chance to speak up and share their ideas, or do it their way, then you might just see that they were too shy to speak up or had done the task differently in the past. I really appreciate when those around me extend empathy towards me, it can make the difference between a good and bad interaction. The closest relationships that I have are because of empathy. I think when you really "get" someone, you have taken the time to know them and what makes them tick, you have listened, comiserated and laughed with th

What is your greatest strength and how do you know?

I think my greatest strength is my stick-to-it-iveness and desire to understand, my "agency" towards learning. I think this strength combines the overarching impressions from my first 3 Paring top 4 strengths. The Blaze driver means that I wish to “work to influence outcomes and gain mastery” and I do consider myself to be a lifetime learner who is curious about many things. I am always trying to challenge myself, learn something new, and pick up new skills. Beyond that, I really enjoy being the go-to person when someone needs help and answers to questions and I enjoy the research aspect of finding a solution. I know this is my greatest strength because it has been a lifelong mission for me to learn new things and in my last role I was the “subject matter expert” and I really enjoyed that role and being the most knowledgeable person on the team who everyone went to for help. If I am good at it, and enjoy it, then it must be my greatest strength!
